Nast Brought Down Corruption with Cartoons - Can Garrison and Others do the Same?
Topic: Action
America First patriots have known the name Ben Garrison for years. Ben sits atop the small pile of cartoonists who convey truth through God-given talent and wit and has accurately profiled many of the biggest narratives and stories to present themselves since the beginning of the Trump-era. He mocked the Russia, Russia narrative from the get-go, helped Americans visualize the absurdity of lockdowns and mandates, and captured the injustice of the Flynn persecution, which has now extended itself to the persecution of regular Americans over the staged January 6 “insurrection.”
I was honored to see myself portrayed in one of Ben’s cartoons from this past winter. It features my likeness lassoing a Democrat donkey dressed as a ballot marking device, as Kari Lake cheers from inside a saloon that brandishes the Ten Points to True Election Integrity I’ve been championing for over a year across the country.
Well, that’s great, Captain. Cartoons are funny, but do they really do anything?
That’s an excellent question. Given that the cultural left commands almost all art forms in the modern battlespace, it’s nice to find people like Garrison, Chad Vivas, or Paul Fleuret, who are skilled at making works of art, either in written, drawn, sculpted, video, or any other form. It is nice to know there are still people with an artistic gifting who are aligned with us; however, this skillset may be even more critical than you ever thought possible.
In January, I outlined the sins of William “Boss” Tweed, who almost single-handedly corrupted local elections in New York City by using many of the same tricks and procedures in use today, but with less technologically advanced means of pulling them off. That required much greater use of force to create compliance and guarantee secrecy
How exactly did such a corrupt man finally meet justice? God equipped a man named Thomas Nast, pictured below, to ridicule Tweed into a position of surrender and ultimate capitulation.
Nast is known as the Father of the American Cartoon and is credited with drawing a modernized version of Santa Claus, as well as rendering an elephant as the mascot of the Republican Party. The Bavarian-born Nast began going after the corrupt Tweed in 1867, publishing cartoons in outlets like Harper’s Weekly with regularity. Here are some of his Tweed renderings
:
Nast’s creative mind and skilled hand brought so much heat upon Tweed and the Tammany Hall corruption ring, Tweed found himself in a position to negotiate quickly. Tweed tried to buy Nast off with bribes that eventually reached as high as $500,000, equal to roughly $11.6 million in today’s inflated dollars.
Tweed began to pay the proverbial piper for his corruption in 1873, then fled to Spain, where he worked as a basic seaman before finally being rounded up and sent back to New York to face justice in 1876. This fleabag, a man who thought he was too powerful to face accountability, died in prison just two years later.
What caused Tweed to be spotted in Spain and returned to face the music?
He was recognized from one of Nast’s cartoon portrayals.
I thought of this work introducing Nast to my SubStack audience as a potential sequel to the linked article above highlighting Tweed’s corruption, but never got around to putting it out because current events move at the speed of light these days. Yesterday, I read an article about Garrison’s health, and now that it has been put out there for all to see, I feel it is appropriate to share what I’ve known about for a matter of months to encourage you to support him and pray for his recovery.
Ben is battling an aggressive cancer. How can you help, you might ask? Here is a list:
1) Pray. This article is open to all readers, and like this article, prayer costs nothing but your time, focus, and commitment. All can agree to lift Ben up for healing and for comfort for his family as he battles this disease.
2) Shop at his website. Here is a link to prints, original cartoons, and compilation books.
3) Sign up for his online community, just $4.99 per month.
4) Donate directly to Ben at the amount you desire. I donated to this link this morning, as I finished this article.
5) Think big and purchase a commission from Ben. I intend to do this in the future to memorialize the election integrity movement’s future victories.
Author’s Note: This is an open article for all SubStack subscribers. Normally, in this portion, I request that you consider upgrading to a paid membership supporting my mission; however, if you’re considering upgrading today, I request you redirect your support to Ben Garrison and his family. Thank you for your continued readership, and your efforts in restoring our Republic.
Ben Garrison and his wife Tina have been an integral part of the patriot movement for a long time now. Their political cartoons are always hard-hitting and funny, and do much to further the Great Awakening.
We never know what tips the cart. But I believe you’re really on to something with this Seth. I never even knew his name until now only his cartoons.
