One of the great ironies of our day is that common sense is, unfortunately, not so common. If it were, we wouldn’t live in a society that requires providing identification for renting a car, flying on an airplane, being pulled over by police, buying alcohol, tobacco, or firearms, or for checking into a hotel, but not for verifying legal participation in perhaps our most sacred process, voting.
