Welcome to the latest installment of The Sizzle, which provides a deeper assessment of what the news won’t tell you when rattling off typically deranged headlines and untruthful narratives. These musings cover items and stories from January 23 through January 26.
I. Deportation Quotas and Math Collide
It appears I am correct in assessing that President Trump is conscious of the fact he has just a single four-year term to not only get things done, but get them done so effectively and conclusively that his successor (especially if that person is a Democrat) cannot simply unwind them with executive actions.
The Washington Post reports Trump is disappointed with the results of his mass deportation efforts so far, which can only be a good thing, because most Americans are cackling about him crushing the Colombian president on the world stage and from watching videos of migrants advising people not to try and go back to the United States. Trump, if reports are accurate, wants 1,200 to 1,500 arrests per day, which of course are not the same as the total number of deportations, which can vary.
The quotas were outlined Saturday in a call with senior ICE officials, who were told that each of the agency’s field offices should make 75 arrests per day and managers would be held accountable for missing those targets. The four people spoke on the condition of anonymity to disclose internal briefings.
If you’ve read me long enough, you know I like to spin statistics to reach more actionable solutions. We have been fed the lie that there are 11 million illegal aliens in America since at least the dawn of the millennium, when illegal alien politics started becoming part of the red-blue battle and made their way into your living room. I tend to believe we have upwards of 30 million illegal aliens in the country, but for the sake of the official math, I’ll stick with the 11 million:
1,500 deportation arrests per day x 365.25 days in a year = 547,875 deportation arrests
547,875 x 4 years = 2,191,500 deportation arrests
1,500 deportation arrests a day for the duration of Trump’s term will remove 2,191,500 illegals out of the 11 million, or just shy of 20% of the total number supposedly here. Key to this operation will be keeping them out once they get sent packing, as many of us are aware some of the most heinous crimes committed by illegal aliens were committed by ones previously deported. More illegal aliens will self-deport if employment opportunities dry up and benefits get shredded, which should happen in red states; however, blue states are vowing to leave it all on the field when it comes to prioritizing illegals over citizens.
The bottom line here is that if we are going to get rid of all illegal aliens in America, we will need upwards of 10,000 deportations per day once the administration is in full swing. This is the consequence of letting an extinction-level problem fester for decades – and I’m not sure that without some finesse tactics leading to massive self-deportations this task can be accomplished even with Trump’s most sincere efforts.
