Steve Munisteri is senior advisor to Governor Greg Abbott and the former chairman of the Texas Republican Party. Last year, he took exception to my lengthy analysis on the 2020 election catastrophe in Texas, telling various audiences that I lacked the experience and political knowledge to know what I was talking about (even though I called all 50 states accurately in 2016).
I finally got him to call me, and we spent about thirty minutes on the phone. I was hardly able to get a word in because he apparently knew everything. When given the opportunity, I hit the facts straight. Trump piled up 1.2 million net new votes in 2020, twelve times more new votes than he garnered in 2016, a Republican record for one cycle in a Republican stronghold but won the state by the smallest margin in a quarter century.
Not that any of this mattered, but every audience who has seen my presentations on Texas picks up what I am putting down. It is obvious to the casual observer and political student alike that Trump’s performance alone points to a Republican blowout in the mid-double digits as a percentage, if not higher; unfortunately, negligence by the Texas GOP in investigating the 2020 election, complete with mail-in fraud, drive through voting, and corrupt voter rolls, will bring about a Blue Texas by 2032.
