Sooo very good Seth. The story of Joseph in the Old Testament from the first time I read it as a young Christian at 17 also, moved me in way I knew was special. Now at 68 I have had the opportunity to share that same story of Joseph with my own 2 sons in their adult lives. What is truly amazing to me is that this is reliably probably one of the oldest recorded detailed story known to mankind with all the emotional factors.

Very inspiring! Our AF son just got home from deployment to Jordan/Syria area. He got to his base in New York, the same day as Hamas reigned terror on Israel. (We continually thank God for his safe return). He could've used this while he was there. He was so looking forward to getting home yet now wishes he was still there to help.

Thanks for sharing this, Captain K. No matter where one is on his or her faith journey, this is a message that is always appropriate. Regardless of what we do with our lives, the good and the bad, we all make the same big mistake......we don't trust God enough. It's almost as if when things are going bad, we want to fix it all by ourselves and not bother God by asking for help. That's pretty much the definition of pride......the worst of the seven deadly sins. Your emphasis here on looking outward to help others by using the gifts that God gave you is the perfect recipe for making everyone happy, including God !!

God bless you for reposting this, Captain! So sorely needed now - particularly at this "low" moment for our country & our world. Thank you for the reminder that we have all, indeed, been "CHOSEN" and graced by our loving God with a particular & blessed task in His great mystery of redemption. I have always been one who likes to be in the "lead" (aka in control). Most times, I've felt that this was because the skills and talents for leading & managing & directing were gifts from Him - which I know in my heart they are. But somewhere along the way, pride crept in & I began to see them as my own (i.e., not HIS gifts) & I began to rely less & less on His direction in using them - all to my own detriment & to the detriment of those for whom I was called to use them. But lately, He has lovingly shown me that the real way to use my talents was to SURRENDER myself to Him (or as you have so wisely stated "SUB-MISSION"). And I am learning day-by-day, that when I get out of the way, it's then that HE can work His miracles in my life & the lives of those entrusted to my care. May God bless you for all you do in His Name as He directs your paths in your sub-mission on behalf of our great country.

Did I ever need to read this encouraging, somewhat of a wake-up call to allow God to use me instead of attending a “pity party”. Thank you, Seth, for sharing. Our circumstances should be a joy, as Paul said, “in whatever situation we find ourselves” (my paraphrase.)👍🏻 Now, it’s time to drop to my knees and ask where God, Our General, wants to take me.
