Hi- just signed up so I could read this - my son is Major in Army currently - and I would love more knowledge so I can ask better questions and understand more. He's been in 7.5 years and has a min. of 9, but "was" going to stay for 20, but really not sure any more. Its tough. He's medical person.
Thanks for coming in. You'll learn a lot. He's a bit of a speciality type if he's a doctor or medical professional. Usually it takes an officer 9-10 years to make Major if in a traditional branch, from 2nd Lt.
I am grateful for this series. I have heard many of Derek Johnsons videos and have questions about the whole thing. I admit when I worked as an RN at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu as relief civilian staff, it was quite the education for me! Having worked in civilian healthcare - it was hard to know how to handle all the ranks and titles and not step on toes or say something out of turn, lol! They kept asking me to come back so I figured it was ok! I was too old to enter the Army by the time I realized it would have been a good fit for me. Still, I never understood all the intricacies of the ranks and etiquette. I just did my work.
Thank you!
